PS I love you
What an absolute delight she is!
Absolutely great. What a lovely man, outstanding storyteller
Good God can't they put thia together does it really have to be six parts?
In 1976 I was 13 years old and I already had Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol. 1. One night, I was sitting in my neighbor’s car with my feet up on the dashboard when the radio disc jockey announced the new Bob Dylan song. It was SARA from DESIRE. I sat spellbound during the entire song, absorbing it like a small sponge in a large lake. I had never been taken to such a place before in my life, while at the same time it all felt so familiar. Everything about it, the melody, the tempo, the interaction between the bass and the drums, the lyrics, the style of singing, Emmylou Harris’ harmonies and on top of all that, Scarlet Rivera’s haunting gypsy violin. As a 13 year old kid, I was absolutely transported. The song etched itself into the very core of my being. The very next day, I cut a neighbor’s lawn to earn the money to buy the album, and I still own the same original worn-out copy to this day. It’s one of the reasons that I became a musician and songwriter and I am forever in debt to DESIRE. Thank you all who were a part of it: Scarlet, Howie, Stoner, Emmylou, Levy and of course, Dylan himself.
Hey I'm sure i spent an afternoon with this guy in 4.000 islands in Laos back in 2008?. He was from New York and his name was Richard. 😉
Hallo Klausi. Ich heisse auch Klausi. Gruss
I think that's a big part of what made them so interesting: Lloyd had the more "mainstream" rock influences, Verlaine had the jazz influences, and they combined it into something new.
It's too funny how much Richard reminds me of my one friend's dad of about the same age. And he is not a musician of any kind, but he just has like the same tone and cadence, haha.
Is this interview basically his class syllabus? Excellent stuff
God nothing beats playing live. Chris youre the best
Chris your explanations are excellent. Wish i was a michigan student
Why am i only commentor? This should have millions.
I was in Highschool in 90s. I used cakewalk and a roland xp80 and sr16 drum. Fascinating hearing this
Loving this...agreed agreed agreed. Well said indeed
A close friend of mine is working w him. Chris is gonna be an excellent professor at Michigan. Applies his experiences to a larger picture. Incredibly well spoken. Go kenyon college!
He's leaving college at Alabama?
The Great J.C. Black Rest In Paradise, good Sir. I hope you're getting a new 20 year old Girl every night, and all the Hashish you could ever smoke.🕯
The man who litterly played the riff on Surfin’ USA!
Completely agree although at the time - I was 12 years old - I probably would have wanted them to stay together but mainly for selfish fan reasons. But every point he makes is spot-on. They were too strong and were evolving like high speed asteroids going in opposite directions. They really did the right thing and happy they went out leaving us with their best work (I mean all the albums not just the latter ones).
You are cool, I smile when I watch this.I have been through so much(who hasn't right) You re a great "mentor" in this life
unsung hero of The Velvet Underground.
Yeah man ❤
She seems like a nice person. Never really liked that band or got the hype though. Their songs like Heroin are long and tedious. Hard to sit through. The only song I like by Lou Reed is Take a Walk on the Wild Side. But that is because of the bass, not him. Million things I'd rather do than listen to Nico sing. Tomorrow's Parties and I'll Be Your Mirror are horrible songs in my opinion and are pretty much representative their whole catalog. I feel like the kid in that Emperor's New Clothes story every time people go on about how they are so great but I think they are crap. I'm prepared for the backlash of comments and the inevitable "you don't get it" "it was so underrated" "it was avant garde... minimalist... bro be like... blah blah blah." But I've open mindedly listened to everything they did and even if everyone else tries to convince me otherwise, I will always feel that the Velvet Underground just wasn't good.
Mile Love pretty much split the Beach Boys.....sad to say.
Thanks ❤love you
❤ merry me
Why didn't you put these all on ONE video??
Why didn't you put all these Brian Wilson vids on ONE video?
Don Preston is a national treasure.
Even Klaus can't turn that sh*t Plastic Ono Band" into shinola.
Drumming genius!!!
Nobody wonder I stopped listening to Morrissey at the right time.
frank crook
Don did some Grandmothers recording with my Minimoog way back in the early 80's. I still have it.
Man oh man he sure said "man" a lot man.
The song "Brown Shoes..." does NOT advocate incest by any stretch of the imagination. The song DESCRIBES a moron who thinks incest is ok. A song may refer to a topic without advocating it.
Sshhh.Let 'MOE' TUCKER.TELL IT..#Please."Moe' is probAly best dont u feel.hmm'[Your not 1 of those']#true beleivers-#
Doug Yule and Nico were both kept out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and me thinks it was probably because Lou being his usual petty small dicked little self couldn't take anyone trying to steal his thunder. Such a little bitch
I love Dennys songs off of the "Wings at The Speed of Sound"
Alan was a dear friend. He and Gigi were perfect together. Roger Fisher is another dear and long time friend and it was Rog who introduced me to all the incredible iconic people in Seattle
Rest in peace my brother
🎉
If your 20 and conservative you have no heart. If your 30 and liberal you have no brain.
A major virtuoso!
Dave, I'm glad you touched up on the subject of reverb because I'm a big fan of it too. There's something about that big heavy sound that makes my adrenaline flow. 😂😅
Living with a cantankerous, manipulative, calcuting power controlling old fart like Murray would be a fate worse than death. I'm sorry but his type just don't strike a right chord with me! 😢😮
I couldn't stand to be around much less live with a cantankerous, manipulative controlling old fart like Murray. 😢😮
Mike did look like the typical grandfatherly type. 😅😊
